Irrican Chin eBAR Battery Storage Project
Irrican Power has partnered with TERIC Power to develop the Irrican Chin eBAR (enhanced Battery and Renewables) project. The project is being constructed by TERIC at the SE-26-8-19-W4 surface location, approximately 18 kilometers southeast of the Hamlet of Chin, Alberta. The project is located on privately owned land and consists of a 11.6-megawatt capacity lithium-ion battery storage system. This will be a 2-hours system capable of providing 23.2MWh of energy.
This project is connected to and located adjacent to the existing Chin Reservoir Hydro Plant. The project is being used to store energy provided by both the Hydro Plant and from the Alberta Interconnected Electric System. The project stores excess renewable energy and releases it during periods of high electricity demand and provide grid reliability services to the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO).
